Guatemala

In Guatemala, FCM partners with Maya-Mesoamerica Mission (3M). 3M’s purpose is to bring people together from around the world to help national Christians share their faith in Jesus Christ and build His church. Their outreach emphasis is presently based in the western highlands of Guatemala, in and around the city of Quetzaltenango. Quetzaltenango, known locally as Xela, (shay-la), is a major center for trade, religion, and culture.

In April, 2003, 3M founders were sent from their home church in central Missouri to plant a new non-denominational church in Quetzaltenango. Xela Community Church, held its first service on July 7, 2003, and now plays an important role in the spiritual life of many people in Xela.

Planting new churches and helping to strengthen existing churches remains the focus of the ministry. In September, 2004, the small mountain village of Las Nubes became the site of our second church plant. National 3M missionaries are taking the lead in developing this new church working alongside Americans and Europeans.

3M is a non-profit corporation chartered in the American state of Arkansas. It is governed by a board of eleven directors from North America, Europe, and Central America.
