Campaign Success

You may not have read about it or heard about it, but there is a silent crisis taking place in Uganda. The continent of Africa is home to more than 60 million orphaned and vulnerable children (HIV/AIDS, conflict, disability, street children). Some three million of these children live in Uganda.

Four Corners Ministries (FCM), based in Wedowee, has been called to demonstrate unconditional love to these precious children. FCM seeks to help by giving aid to Africa’s poor, sick and suffering, especially children who have been orphaned. While FCM desires to address immediate physical needs, they also want to invest their time and resources into long-term relationships that will empower the nationals to lead their country in generational change.

The need for orphan care in Uganda is so great that FCM recently launched a new project called “Abaana’s Hope.” Abaana’s Hope will rescue orphans and give them a future by providing a nurturing family and allowing children to be raised in a loving community. Children will receive a quality education and training that will prepare them to serve as future leaders and parents in Uganda.

A feasibility study conducted by the J.F. Smith Group in early 2010 revealed a great opportunity for FCM to secure the future of Abaana’s Hope. The study, which included interviews of current and former board members, donors, mission trip team members, friends and corporation representatives, demonstrated resounding support for the proposed project and its future. As a result, FCM leadership initiated a capital campaign, Building Hope. Adopting Life., which will allow for the construction of the proposed

children’s village, Abaana’s Hope. The Building Hope. Adopting Life. campaign gives people the opportunity to invest in this bold plan. So far, FCM has reached 80 percent of their million dollar goal, receiving over $800,000 in pledges.

“People all across East Alabama have responded to the campaign. I am grateful for each gift and confident that we will reach our final goal in the months ahead,” said Tripp Skipper, president of FCM.

Individuals can get involved in this worthy endeavor by making a one-time gift or by considering a three-year pledge.

Skipper said he welcomes the opportunity to meet with individuals or to share about the vision of Abaana’s Hope in local churches. Contributions can be made online at www.4cornersministries.org or sent to P.O. Box 161, Wedowee, AL 36278.
